Francisco Salguero, who currently serves as the deputy chief information officer for the Agriculture Department, will be the Federal Communications Commission next CIO.
After 14 years at the USDA, Salguero is set to start his new position at FCC in December, FedScoop reported, replacing current acting CIO John Skuldarek.
Salguero has more than 20 years of IT industry experience. His career started in the private sector in technology and telecommunications, working with state and local governments at Science Applications International Corp. as a senior technical project manager.
He entered federal service in 2005 as a project manager at USDA Food Safety Inspection Service in the Office of the CIO, and has been with the agency since. Of the many positions he’s held at USDA, Salguero has served as the planning and governance branch chief, as the associate CIO of the Infrastructure Operation Division, as the deputy associate of International Technology Service and as the deputy associate CIO and CIO for USDA Rural Development.
As deputy CIO, Salguero leads the operational components, including enterprise services end user support, network and infrastructure services, and OCIO resource management. He’s also worked with the White House and the General Services Administration’s Centers of Excellence to lead IT modernization efforts like cloud adoption and IT infrastructure optimization, data analytics, enterprise end user consolidation and network modernization.
