Bill King

With strategic vision and forward-thinking leadership, Bill King revamped the legal function at QinetiQ US, making it a proactive business partner deeply engaged with the company’s growth initiatives and operational excellence.

“When I joined QinetiQ US following an acquisition that doubled the size of the company, I saw a tremendous opportunity to enhance our legal support,” he said. “We’ve pivoted to become hands-on counselors thoroughly embedded with the business. This transformation has allowed us to deliver more responsive legal guidance to our teams and, incidentally, significantly reduce our reliance on outside counsel.”

King’s team implemented a metrics-oriented approach to legal engagements with impressive results.

“The increased number of legal consultations we’re seeing is a positive indicator,” he said. “It reflects both the trust placed in our legal team and the business’s commitment to seeking timely counsel.”

Why Watch

In 2025, King and his team are focused on advancing QinetiQ US’s position as a leader in the U.S. defense and national security sector while navigating an uncertain regulatory environment with agility and foresight.

“Our primary focus is on being visible, available, and approachable,” he said. “We work hard to empower the business with the best advice at the right time. That means people need to know you and know how to reach you.”

King will continue to advocate for integrity and compliance excellence across the GovCon industry, focusing on practical approaches for mid-sized defense contractors who must implement sound controls despite not having the same resources as larger industry players.

“Integrity and ethical conduct aren’t just legal requirements and organizational guardrails — they’re foundational to corporate culture and customer mission support,” King said.

Fun Fact: Outside the office, King belongs to a small group of enthusiasts who own and drive vintage French automobiles, particularly Citroëns. He owns two A-Series models from the 1960s.
