Brian Liss

Senior Vice President, Deputy General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, Leidos

Hired in 2008 as Leidos’ second employment lawyer, Brian Liss spent nearly two decades expanding his role within the company. His journey has taken him beyond employment law, allowing him to work across various functions and gain experience in many aspects of the organization.

Over the years, Liss served in key leadership roles including stints as chief ethics and compliance officer and general counsel of one of Leidos’ operating sectors during periods of organizational transition.

In early 2024, Liss was appointed corporate secretary of Leidos, adding corporate governance, mergers and acquisitions and SEC-related matters to his broad portfolio, which already included overseeing employment law, intellectual property, litigation, environmental health and safety, political compliance and real estate. Liss has consistently provided trusted expertise and stability while handling critical legal responsibilities.

One of Liss’ major accomplishments in 2024 was redesigning the board of directors meeting process. This initiative resulted in higher-quality board materials and reduced distractions for board members and senior executives. As a result, the leadership team is now better equipped to focus on strategy implementation and business execution with greater efficiency.

“Brian’s leadership and expertise have been invaluable to Leidos across a wide range of matters,” said Dan Antal, executive vice president and general counsel at Leidos. “His ability to navigate complex legal and governance issues while driving strategic improvements has had a significant impact on our business.”

“I am excited for the year ahead,” he said. “As strategic partners to the Leidos Board of Directors and the company’s executive leadership, my team and I can proactively identify and mitigate risks, enabling business leaders to focus on what we do best: delivering smarter, more efficient outcomes for our customers.”

Fun Fact: Liss is the proud grandchild of Holocaust survivors. He co-chairs the advocacy committee of 3GDC, which preserves and honors history through education, advocacy and community building in the Washington, D.C., area. He regularly shares his family’s survival story with middle and high school students in D.C. and New York.
