Bill Malone

President, Coalfire Federal

Over the last year, Bill Malone has led his clients through two of the most significant developments in cybersecurity: the federal adoption of cloud-first policies and the emerging Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification program, all while focusing on employee “connectedness” through these challenging times.

Coalfire also received the Top Workplaces USA award in 2021.

Why Watch

“The government’s heightened focus on cyber is evident everywhere,” Malone said. “The Strengthening American Cybersecurity Act currently pending is just one example. In 2022, our focus is to securely enable our clients’ supply chains and protect their missions in the cloud.”

FedRAMP is key to the government’s cloud-first policy and Coalfire has become the nation’s preeminent FedRAMP adviser and assessor, working with the major cloud services providers in meeting and matching FedRAMP requirements for mission-critical services up to Impact Level 6 and making those cloud services available for government use.

As federal agencies move to ensure third parties entrusted with sensitive government information satisfy threshold cybersecurity requirements, Coalfire Federal has brought a practitioner’s perspective to help government contractors and suppliers understand and satisfy the exacting CMMC program requirements.

“While CMMC is the mandate for all organizations supporting the DOD, I believe it provides the model for securing supply chains across the federal government,” Malone said.

As the leading pure-play cybersecurity company in the federal marketplace, Coalfire remains a focal point for FedRAMP and CMMC implementation and thought leadership.

“We have over 20 years’ experience enabling government cybersecurity objectives and partnering with our clients to protect their missions,” Malone said. “The need for enhanced cybersecurity is even more acute in the ‘new normal’ hybrid work environment we now find ourselves and our clients in.”
