LMI has tapped retired U.S. Air Force Col. Patrick Kumashiro as its point person with the military service, overseeing the development of advanced analytics, digital services, logistics and management advisory services.
Kumashiro has deep knowledge of the inner workings of the Air Force. He served as an Air Force officer for 27 years and retired in October 2016 after over four years as chief of the maintenance division in the Directorate of Logistics at Air Force headquarters.
In that role, Kumashiro spearheaded weapons system readiness requirements, force structure, modernization and aircraft sustainment guidance for more than 5,400 fighters, bombers, airlift and tankers, and unmanned systems. In addition, he led talent management for over 3,000 logistics officers and 65,000 enlisted personnel.
Most recently, Kumashiro ran his own consulting firm, serving as principal adviser for a client in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force for Installations, Environment and Energy. He facilitated mission-thread analyses identifying key nodes and vulnerabilities that affect USAF mission assurance and installation resiliency.
At LMI, Kumashiro succeeds Patrick Mahoney, who transitions to lead LMI’s support to the Office of the Secretary of Defense.

Kumashiro has a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Texas at Austin and master’s degrees from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, the Marine Corps Command & Staff College and the University of Oklahoma.
