The Northern Virginia Technology Council has tapped Jennifer Taylor as president and CEO following the retirement of Bobbie Kilberg after 22 years of leading the organization.
Taylor will replace Brad Schwartz, who served as acting president and CEO after Kilberg’s retirement effective Sept. 10.
Taylor said she’s honored to serve as the council’s new president and CEO and to expand on Kilberg’s legacy.
“I’m incredibly excited about NVTC’s future and the impactful role the organization will play to help grow and sustain an innovation community anchored by tech companies of all sizes, policy makers, venture capitalists and academia,” she added/
Many tech companies such as Google, Microsoft and Samsung have an established presence in Northern Virginia. Additionally, it’s the home to many government contractors, and their presence and the decision to locate Amazon in Northern Virginia will be a catalyst for a new growth phase in the region’s technology evolution.
“As one of the largest and most influential technology councils in the U.S., NVTC is poised for its next phase,” said Greg Baroni, chairman of the NVTC board of directors and CEO of Attain. “Jennifer brings the right mix of policy, technology, business development and marketing leadership to NVTC.”
Taylor previously served as vice president of industry affairs for the Consumer Technology Association, where she engaged with its numerous member companies including Amazon, Google and Uber and launched the company’s 21-Century Workforce Council and Diversity and Inclusion Working Group.
She also created the CTA Apprenticeship Coalition to help technology companies build and expand hundreds of apprenticeships nationwide and create career pathways for American workers in this fast-growing field.
Prior to the Consumer Technology Association, Taylor was executive vice president of sales and marketing for Caring Village and vice president of corporate relations and business development at AARP.
She has also held leadership roles at the American Red Cross, RTCRM, KSK Communications and the American College of Cardiology.
“Jennifer’s background in the technology industry combined with her experience with leading membership organizations is perfectly suited for NVTC’s needs,” Kilberg said. “I’m confident she will build on what we’ve established and work to take NVTC to the next level.”
