The Foundation for Fairfax County Public Schools today announced it will welcome a new chairman. Gerald Gordon, the current president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority (Fairfax County EDA), takes the role previously held by Cardinal Bank Regional President Kevin Reynolds, and will step down this month from his current position as chairman of the Arts Council of Fairfax County.

Gordon’s post with the 2010-created 501(c)(3) will require him to work with the Foundation’s board to expand resources and improve student achievement in Fairfax County Public Schools, as well as to raise the profile of the organization in the local business community.

“I’m really enthused about working with Fairfax County Public Schools, its leadership, and the Foundation,” Gordon said. “I hope to involve the business community to an even greater extent in supporting the school system, which in turn supports the growth and betterment of the business community and the community at large.”

The organization works to better area public schools by investing, and facilitating cooperation between the school system and businesses to foster and build a future competitive work force.
