Cybersecurity advisory firm Coalfire has named Mark Carney its new executive vice president for cybersecurity services to oversee cutting-edge cyber research, the company announced.

In his new position, Carney will oversee the company’s cyber risk, cyber engineering and labs teams.

“We are pleased to bring Mark on our team and welcome his depth of experience,” said Tom McAndrew, Coalfire CEO. “Mark brings decades of experience in building world-class cybersecurity programs and helping CISOs, Boards of Directors and technology providers with their cybersecurity strategies. His vision will continue to grow our Labs, Cyber Risk Advisory and Cyber Engineering services.”

Before joining Coalfire, Carney held a number of previous executive roles, including as vice president of global services for Kudelski Security, where he helped drive growth in the company’s international cybersecurity services business.

He also previously worked at Fishnet Security (now Optiv), and FireMon in executive roles.

Carney holds a master’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in management information systems and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Coalfire,” Carney said. ”This organization’s unique position in the market as a leading pure-play, independent cybersecurity firm continues to fuel our rapid growth. It’s evident that our focus is on partnering with our customers to successfully manage and navigate the evolving risks of this new digital world. By continuing to develop innovative strategies and integrated cyber programs that protect our clients’ valuable assets and mitigate cyber risk, we plan to be on the front lines of addressing complex and emerging challenges related to cyber risk management, resiliency and cloud transformation.”
