Former Blackboard President and CEO Michael Chasen is launching SocialRadar, a firm that builds apps on smartphones and Google Glass. Chasen announced this new venture through his Linkedin and Twitter pages and said the apps “will change the way people connect by giving them a heads up about their individual social connections when they walk into a room.”

He co-founded Blackboard, a D.C.-based education technology company, 16 years ago and oversaw its more than 20 acquisitions, and its transition back to private ownership in 2011 after its acquisition from Providence Equity Partners for $1.7 billion.
