The top executive at AT&T Government Solutions has resigned, according to reports.

Federal News Radio reports that Kay Kapoor, president of the federal business unit, has stepped down. She will be replaced by Xavier Williams, who formerly served as federal sales lead. He’s been with the company since 1990.

Kapoor joined AT&T Government Solutions in 2013 as president, after serving as managing director and CEO of Accenture Federal Services. Prior to that, she was vice president of ITT’s Advanced Information Systems. She also spent two decades at Lockheed Martin, in various leadership roles.

Last year, WashingtonExec named Kapoor among its Top 30 Executives to Watch. She has been a vocal supporter of STEM careers and told WashingtonExec in 2015 the importance of nudging young people toward that field.

“We need to continue to encourage students to pursue STEM careers and help guide them as they take the journey,” Kapoor said then. “For young women, in particular, it’s not easy to go into these fields without encouragement from people they can trust. As technology leaders, we have a responsibility to support STEM efforts and offer guidance to young professionals.”

It’s unclear what Kapoor plans to do next or why she decided to leave her position.
