SAVE THE DATE: The Cyber Jobs for America Symposium is coming to the Washington D.C. area on Thursday, September 22, 2011. The daylong event, hosted by the Intelligence and National Security Alliance (INSA), will focus on industry, government and academic approaches to the skill sets, education requirements and certifications every sector requires for various cyber career fields.

“The Cyber Jobs for America Symposium is a unique opportunity for government, industry and academia to talk to one another about the workforce needs of this emerging field and the specific requirements and qualifications needed to excel in one of the intelligence industry’s distinct sectors,” said Ellen McCarthy, President of INSA.

The event will consist of three panel discussions:
  • Industry Sector Panel featuring representatives from Oracle, Microsoft, Hewlett Packard and Booz Allen Hamilton
  • Government Panel featuring officials from the Department of Homeland Security, United States Navy, NSA, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations and the Department of Defense
  • Academic Panel featuring representatives from the University of Maryland, Carnegie Mellon, George Mason University and Virginia Tech University.

This year’s keynote speakers are Congressman Dutch Ruppersberger (D-MD), Cyber Executive of the National Security Council Howard Schmidt, and Deputy Director of the National Security Agency (NSA) Chris Inglis.

Fran Townsend, INSA Chairwoman said, “The combined talent, experience and knowledge of the keynote speakers, Congressman Ruppersberger, Howard Schmidt and Chris Inglis, as well as the cyber sector panelists, is truly remarkable.  Our nation’s cyber needs cut across many federal agencies. As a result, symposium attendees will benefit from hearing perspectives from the executive branch, the legislative branch, and leaders in the industry.  These are the people and organizations who will be setting the cyber security policies and hiring the cyber professionals of the future.”

The event will take place at The Marriott Inn & Conference Center Auditorium at the University of Maryland University College in Hyattsville, Md. The registration deadline is September 15, 2011. For the full program agenda, please click here.
