Donna Morea, a renowned executive who’s worked in IT professional services for over 25 years, is the first woman to ever be inducted into the Greater Washington Government Contractor Hall of Fame. She will honored Nov. 1 at the 14th Annual Greater Washington Government Contractor Awards, hosted by the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce and the Professional Services Council.
In 2004, Morea was named president, CGI U.S. and India. CGI Group Inc. as a result of CGI’s merger with American Management Systems.
As president of CGI Technologies and Solutions, Morea led CGI’s IT and business process services in the U.S., Europe and Asia-Pacific. Her clients included many organizations in federal and state and local government, health care, and financial services.
Morea has made many contributions toward the promotion of and growth in technology. In 2008, she received the Eagle Award as the outstanding industry contributor to the federal IT community. The Eagle Award is given to one industry and one government leader each year, as part of the annual Federal 100 awards. This was her first Eagle Award and second Fed 100 award.
Committed to giving back to the community, Morea currently serves as a trustee of Wesleyan University, as a director of Share our Strength, and as a trustee for Inova Health System. She also served as chair of the Northern Virginia Technology Council, representing over 300,000 employees in the region. In 2011, she was named a Tech Titan by Washingtonian magazine.
Here, Morea’s colleagues weigh in on her achievements:
“Donna Morea is quite simply the best boss I ever worked for – and the single most effective leader I’ve been around. Her combination of vision about the GovCon marketspace, razor-sharp business acumen, and inspiring personal leadership and coaching are unique – and to be treasured. She has shaped the lives of hundreds of GovCon executives and personally ensured good outcomes for scores of major government programs. She is a most worthy Hall of Fame inductee.” – Dr. John Hillen, GMU
“Donna Morea’s induction into the Greater Washington Government Contractor Hall of Fame is a well-deserved and truly fitting celebration of her incredible legacy of leadership to elevate the broader GovCon community and, in particular, to guide and grow Northern Virginia’s technology industry. As I’ve said of Donna before, she is an icon in our industry, and we are all proud that she represents the first of the many women leaders who’s work to support the mission of our government customers will be renowned,” -Greg Baroni, Attain LLC
Donna and I have known each other for many years. We first met competing in the federal market at a time when women in senior leadership positions were few. Donna, known for her leadership both in her company (at the time AMS, later CGI) and in the community, has always invested her passion, intellect and keen wit to serve the market that means so much to us all. We partnered and competed. What I always knew and trusted was Donna’s character. Her word was and continues to be her bond. I count Donna as my friend and mentor. We have all benefited from her service to our community.
