Pragmatics announced May 16 that it was the second place winner of the Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Data Challenge.

This is the first year that the annual Washington, D.C. Health Datapalooza, has hosted this code-a-thon competition. Pragmatics was one of the nine teams selected to participate in the challenge. The Pragmatics team was led by Chief Solutions Architect Jared Spigner.

The competition sponsored by Optum, Academy Health and the U.S. Dept. of Health and Human Services Executive Director for Innovation, challenged participants to find innovative ways to improve patient outcomes by leveraging existing non-governmental health data. Spigner, with clinical guidance from Pragmatics Chief Medical Informatics Officer Dr. Ben Nguyen, led the development of a deep learning predictive and evolutionary models that provided insight into patient medical persistence. Pragmatics’ award was announced at this year’s Health Datapalooza.

“The RA data challenge was a great opportunity for Pragmatics to showcase our technically sophisticated and innovative approach to analyze existing data to improve patient outcomes,” Dr. Nguyen said.
