In November, members of WashingtonExec’s 11 result-oriented networking Councils came together for the monthly WashingtonExec GovCon Executive Happy Hour at Maggiano’s in Tysons Corner, sponsored by Dovel Technologies. The event allows executives from different branches of the government contracting industry to network and mingle.
At the event was WashingtonExec’s newest Council Chairman John Sutton, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Vencore’s Civilian and Defense Group. The mission of the WashingtonExec General Managers Council is for leaders to have the appropriate forum to collaborate on challenges such as the future of govcon industry, cultural implications of competing generations, the art of M&A integration, management of abstract verse tactical leadership goals, and adjacent market penetration. As Chairman, Sutton will go beyond addressing the tactical, day-to-day and direct report role of a General Manager and will facilitate discussions that relate to the specific needs of an executives in the GM and COO positions. Heading into the new year, WashingtonExec is gearing up for the 2016 K-12 STEM Symposium, set for March 12, 2016. The K-12 STEM Symposium is an exciting all-day forum for parents, students, teachers, and industry executives in science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. For three years, the symposium has been an opportunity for K-12 students in the National Capitol Region (NCR) to share their ideas and achievements in STEM with experienced non-profit, government, education and business leaders.
