It was announced on September 28th by Arlington, Va.-based Professional Services Council (PSC) that it has launched a new study to research the new roles and responsibilities of federal CTOs.
Robin Lineberger of Deloitte and Casey Coleman of Unisys will lead the study as co-chairs of PSC’s Innovation Committee. The study will comprise of an exploration of CTO job responsibilities and interviews with CTO’s from federal agencies. The results of the study are due to be released in early 2016.
Robin Lineberger said, “Since the establishment of agency-level CTOs is a new phenomenon at most agencies, there is wide variance in the responsibilities of the position, where it is organizationally placed, and the authorities that the CTO has to effect innovation within the agency. Given the crucial role that CTOs play, the time is right to develop thoughtful recommendations on their roles, responsibilities and authorities.”
Casey Coleman added, “Federal CTOs play a vital role in fostering innovation and transformation in their agencies. We look forward to using this study to promote a more effective dialogue between federal CTOs and industry that will result in a force for positive change.”
David Wennergren, PSC senior vice president of technology said, “The results of this study will further our collective understanding on this emerging position and provide actionable recommendations on how this role could better facilitate innovative technology adoption in the federal government. We look forward to engaging government and industry in this effort.”
