Donna Roy was the latest keynote speaker for the WashingtonExec Federal Business Council morning roundtable summer series. Roy serves as executive director of the Information Sharing Office at the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
With the DHS’s reliance on big data management to secure to protect the United States, Donna Roy offered a candid inside perspective of data application and management at the federal level. Specifically, Roy offered firsthand accounts on the creation and development of the National Information Exchange Model (NIEM) as part of the Big Data Frame work of DHS. A sincere and collaborative speaker, Roy stressed the importance of persistence by industry when working towards better big data collection as the key to getting what you want in any federal agency, especially if you are working in the realm of big data collection.
