This time of year is a busy one for government contractors, but we’re happy to bring you a brief re-cap of the week’s most noteworthy news. In case you missed it, here are our top stories from the week of Oct. 13:

GovCon Award nominee Anne Altman, of IBM, discussed her 30-plus year career with the technology company. She is nominated for “Executive of the Year” in the $300 million and more category.

ManTech’s Chris Bishop spoke with WashingtonExec about the way trends in the government contracting industry are affecting ManTech’s business strategy, how his company continues to drive success in a cost-constrained environment, and keeping top talent engaged at ManTech to help ensure the company’s growth.

Our STEM Series continued with interviews from Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology Principal Dr. Evan Glazer, George Mason University’s Dr. Padhu Seshaiyer and NGA’s Ellen McCarthy. These leaders discussed the need for mentors within the STEM community and the crucial task of motivating students in the STEM fields.

A couple of contractors received promotions this week, too, including Fulcrum’s Roy Smith and ENSCO Inc.’s Boris Nejikovsky. And, CACI’s Ken Asbury was honored by the Boy Scouts of the National Capital Area Council for his commitment to advancing the technology sector while exemplifying the values of the Scouts.

Finally, WashingtonExec kicked off our “Millennial Mavericks” series, which focuses on young professionals who are challenging the stereotypes facing the Millennial generation in the workforce. The first round of interviews includes eGlobalTech’s Branko Primetica and SRA International’s Brian Conn and Jenny Madorsky.

Catch up on all of these stories, learn who’s celebrating a work anniversary, and hear about new company hires first, in our weekly e-magazine here.
