DISA Mobile App Store Adds Appian’s BPM Platform as Part of Digital Strategy

The U.S. Defense Department (DOD) will by the end of fiscal 2014 manage and support 55 percent more unclassified mobile devices in its mobile application store (MAS) as part of  a digital strategy by the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA)– the group tasked with maintaining DOD’s app store.

DOD currently manages 1,800 mobile devices, but the anticipated 100,000 users would provide DOD with new opportunities for “agency-wide mission effectiveness,” according to a statement.

Among the apps present in DOD’s app store is a mobile business process management (BPM) platform offered by Reston, Va.-based Appian. Announced in a press statement last week, Appian’s interface combines apps from enterprise data navigation to BPM and native mobility.

“Helping the DOD modernize processes to accelerate mission attainment is in Appian’s DNA,” Chris O’Connell, the vice president of federal sales at Appian, said. “Our participation in DOD MAS provides all branches the ability to take advantage of modern mobile apps that can be deployed across the entire workforce.”

O’Connell spoke at a WashingtonExec MARCOM Committee meeting in March about “new trends in digital management.” Read about it here.
