Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC), the Falls Church-based IT services company, has  named Ashish Mahadwar as its executive vice president and general manager of strategic business. Prior to joining CSC, Mahadwar served as the senior vice president and global head of strategic partnerships at Cognizant. In his role at CSC, Mahadwar will lead strategy and growth for the company’s next-generation strategic business units, including big data, cybersecurity and cloud computing. He will report to CSC President and CEO Mike Lawrie.

“CSC is delivering innovative next-generation technology solutions to help customers throughout the world realize new growth, efficiency and productivity,” said Lawrie. “Ashish’s proven leadership and industry experience will build on the progress we’ve already achieved in our big data, cloud and cybersecurity businesses as well as applications modernization and mobility, and bring it all together in a more integrated approach to drive innovation for our clients.”

During his 11 years at Cognizant, Mahadwar established a group to oversee the company’s strategic partnerships and new ventures. Other roles he held at Cognizant include senior vice president and managing director for Enterprise Application Services, senior vice president for SAP & Mobile, and director and vice president for the Technology Vertical. Before joining Cognizant, Mahadwar co-founded Panetasia.com and served in management roles at Microland and at an HCL and HP joint venture. He was also an analyst at A.F. Ferguson & Co. and CMC.

Mahadwar earned a master’s degree in management studies from Bombay University’s Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Managemet Studies and a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the university’s Sardar Patel College of engineering.
