    Executives Gather for 13th Annual HR Leadership Awards Gala

    The HR Leadership Awards Gala drew a crowd last week  to the Crystal City Gateway Marriott in Arlington, Va. for the 13th annual event to celebrate leaders and collaboration within the HR industry and the granting of awards and three scholarships.

    Marymount University founded the gala in 2001 to each year honor executives deemed “outstanding” contributors to their organizations and the field of human resource management.

    Executive attendees to the event networked, enjoyed dinner and an encore reception.

    “The HR Leadership Awards program held last week is always exciting,” said C. Michael Ferraro, the president and chief executive at TRAINING SOLUTIONS, Inc. “To see the leaders of the HR community honored and recognized each year for their work and having it celebrated by their peers is a one of a kind event in DC. I was very happy to again hand out one of the awards this year.”

    This year’s award winners were:

    Leadership: Evelyn Campos Diaz, director, Human Resources Department, MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital. Finalists: Christine Dellecave, vice president, talent management, Neustar, and Charles McCormick, human resource director, Titania Solutions Group Inc.

    Strategic Alignment: Individual winner: Theresa Marchese, human resources director, Tishman Speyer. Individual finalist was Shaara Roman, senior vice president, human resources, National Rural Electric Cooperative Association. Team winner: AMERICAN SYSTEMS (Toni Potter, Lynette Shaw, Nicky Stewart, Chris Braccio, Kelly Wing, Melinda Haeff). Team finalists: Akima LLC and MHM Services Inc.

    Innovation: Chris Braccio, vice president, human resources, AMERICAN SYSTEMS. Finalist:  Candice Cook, director of human resources, IP Network Solutions. Team winner: Neustar (Kim Austin, Craig Lutz, Gail Griswold, Sam Weber, Nichole Gunter). Finalists: Noblis and Phillips Corporation.

    Mentoring: Miguel Joey Aviles, program manager, Department of Defense/DCPAS.  finalist: Rachel Wardley, director, Corporate Support Services, LS Technologies LLC.

    The Sister Eymard Gallagher Award for Corporate Social Responsibility: Amy Yasneski, Phillips Corporation. Finalist: CACI International Inc. – VSDI Team.

    The Dr. J.P. London Award for Promoting Ethical Behavior: Hugo Aguas, assistant vice president of human resources, Inova Alexandria Hospital. Finalist: District of Columbia, Department of Human Resources.

    HR Leadership Scholarships of $4,000: Michelle Forster, Marymount University, Lori Glover, George Mason University, Lucia Gabriella Paez Salazar, The George Washington University.
