    This week, Entrepreneur and Author Wayne Simmons was featured in a new interview. The co-founder and CEO of The Growth Strategy Company talked about why he started his current business, the challenges of becoming an entrepreneur, advice to up and comers and more.     In STEM news, WashingtonExec hosted its inaugural STEM Council meeting. The breakfast roundtable discussed how education foundations and industry can partner to increase STEM awareness to better meet the industry demand for STEM high school graduates. Ed Swallow, Northrop Grumman’s VP of Business Development in the Federal and Defense Technologies division, led the discussion as the council’s Chairman.

    Also, this week saw U.S. News publish its list of the Best High Schools for STEM Rankings. Approximately 250 schools made the list and included super school Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology based in Alexandria, Va. In other STEM news, Stuart Shea of SAIC delivered a historic commencement speech to JMU’s College of Integrated Science and Engineering 2013 graduating class. He shared with students his experiences throughout his career and advised them to be true to who they are and find a way to do what they love in their careers.

    The WashingtonExec Executive Assistant Committee hosted its annual social and member appreciation at the Waterford in Fair Oaks. Former President of U.S., Europe, and Asia at CGI, Donna Morea was the event’s Keynote Speaker. WashingtonExec also hosted a breakfast featuring Bill Hoover, CEO and President of AMERICAN SYSTEMS. The topic of discussion the 30 year industry veteran touched on was  secrets to survive and thrive in the market.
