Agilex today announced the appointment of Roger W. Baker to its newly created position of Chief Strategy Officer. Baker’s new position calls on him to work closely with agencies to implement strategies and technologies to modernize IT operations, lower sustainment costs, enhance performance, and improve mission results.
“In today’s financial climate, it is important that technology be viewed as an investment that is essential to mission success. Delivering results that benefit the mission is a key part of that,” said Baker. “Agilex has consistently delivered results for its clients, even on some of the most challenging programs. The company is a leader in the successful adoption of emerging technologies such as agile software development and mobile devices. I am excited to join the Agilex leadership team, and to be charged with defining our corporate strategies as we seek to deliver results for a broader set of customers.”
Baker will play a key role in the execution of the company’s corporate strategy and will also be responsible for extending the company’s reputation across federal agencies as a preeminent government solutions provider, recognized for their superior customer value and operational excellence.
Prior to his current position, Baker served as Assistant Secretary for Information and Technology and CIO for the Veterans Affairs Department from 2009 to 2013. He also served as CIO for the Commerce Department from 1998 to 2001. While at the Commerce Department, Baker was credited with modernizing the agency’s IT systems and processes. He introduced new e-commerce capabilities, strengthened IT management, reduced operating costs and supported the decennial census.
“As one of the most respected and transformative CIOs in government history, Roger redefined technology’s role in the federal sector,” said Jay Nussbaum, Agilex co-founder and vice chairman. “He will build upon his numerous accomplishments while advancing Agilex’s position as our clients’ most trusted and valuable partner. With his appointment, it should be clear that we are fully committed to our clients’ long-term and enduring success.”
