CGI Federal Inc. (CGI) has partnered with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) to redesign and launch Medicare.gov, the official U.S. Government website for the Medicare program. CGI is a wholly-owned U.S. operating subsidiary of CGI Group, Inc.
“The re-launch of Medicare.gov is the first in a series of planned upgrades to CMS’ public-facing websites that will improve user experience and ensure important information is accessible through mobile devices,” said Web & New Media Group of CMS Director Jon Booth. “This work aligns CMS with global trends toward mobility and ensuring our customers can find what they are looking for no matter where they are or what device they choose to use.”
Delivered by CGI under a five-year task order contract supporting CMS Websites that was awarded in 2010, the new online presence is accessible on any desktop or mobile device at www.medicare.gov. It has had more than 27 million unique visitors the past year and has produced a faster and easier experience for the program’s 47 million Medicare beneficiaries and their families.
“Mobility is the new norm,” said CGI’s Senior Vice-President for Health and Compliance programs Cheryl Campbell. “The way people use technology today has changed the way government delivers citizen services. With the re-design of Medicare.gov, CMS has set a new standard for introducing next-generation, innovative design into one of government’s most significant programs.”
Medicare.gov is one of the largest government websites to incorporate device-aware, responsive design, and the re-design makes it so beneficiaries can access critical information like coverage and cost details at any time and using any platform.
