AMERICAN SYSTEMS has achieved Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification Level 2 with a perfect score of 110 after an accredited assessment in June, placing the company among the first Defense Department contractors to meet the new standard.
The certification strengthens AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ ability to safeguard Controlled Unclassified Information and mitigate the risk of cyberattacks and data breaches. Company officials said the move underscores its role as a trusted provider of secure services across critical missions.
“Pursuing and attaining the CMMC Level 2 certification ahead of DoD-wide contract requirements exemplifies AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ future-proofing approach to compliance and risk management,” said John Steckel, president and CEO of AMERICAN SYSTEMS. “It is a testament to the diligence of our team and our ongoing commitment to providing the highest levels of security and performance for our customers and partners.”
CMMC Level 2 is the advanced tier of DOD’s cybersecurity framework. To comply, contractors must implement all 110 security controls outlined in NIST SP 800-171 and undergo an independent review by an accredited third-party assessor.
