Riverside Research has appointed Dr. Kimberly Sablon as chief technology officer, a key leadership role responsible for shaping the nonprofit’s technical strategy and overseeing its Independent Research and Development program.

“I’m thrilled to join Riverside Research in the Chief Technology Officer role,” Sablon said. “This is an organization that clearly demonstrates mission impact to current and future customers.”

Sablon most recently was principal director for trusted AI and autonomy in the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering. In that role, she oversaw AI and autonomy research across the Defense Department and helped integrate emerging technologies with existing systems and processes.

She also set strategic direction as the Army’s science and technology director and served as director for basic research in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology. There, she was responsible for research budgets, programs and priorities, including congressional defense.

Earlier in her career, Sablon worked as a research physicist at the Army Research Laboratory.

“I am so excited to have Dr. Sablon on the team,” said Dr. Steven Omick, president and CEO of Riverside Research. “Kim brings a wealth of expertise, not only in emerging technologies like AI/ML and autonomy, but also in shaping national research priorities at the highest levels of government. Her strategic vision, deep technical insight, and commitment to mission impact align perfectly with our goals. I’m confident she will have an immediate and lasting influence on Riverside and the customers we serve.”
