QinetiQ US has appointed Tom Vecchiolla as president and chief executive, succeeding Shawn Purvis in leading QinetiQ US’ operations.

Vecchiolla is a defense industry veteran with over 30 years of experience. He joins QinetiQ US after serving on its Special Security Agreement Board since April 2024.

Vecchiolla’s career spans military service, public sector leadership and defense industry executive roles.

“This is an exciting time in the U.S. market and a timely opportunity to build on QinetiQ’s strong foundation,” he said. “I’m honored to join QinetiQ US and look forward to working with our talented team to deliver mission-led innovation to our customers and drive sustainable growth in the coming years.”

Vecchiolla spent 22 years as a U.S. Navy pilot and Defense Department acquisition professional before going to public service as national security and military affairs advisor on the U.S. Senate staff. He also served 15 years at Raytheon Technologies Corp., culminating in his role as president of Raytheon International Inc. He then served as president and chief executive of ST Engineering North America.
