Beacon Global Strategies is expanding its team by adding Michael “Mike” Carlozzi and Kaly McKenna as vice presidents, and Elissa Miller as an associate vice president.
McKenna and Miller will contribute to BGS’ National Security Technology Practice, while Carlozzi will support the firm’s Intelligence Practice.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kaly and Elissa to the BGS team,” said Lauren Bedula, managing director of the National Security Technology Practice. “Their deep knowledge of the U.S. government’s advanced technology needs and budget processes will strengthen our ability to drive impactful growth strategies for our disruptive technology clients,”
Carlozzi, a 22-year national security veteran, held senior roles at the CIA and State Department. He recently served as CIA’s chief of science and technology for weapons and counterproliferation.
He led the technical action arm of a complex joint CIA-NSA program and received the Presidential Rank Award in 2024.
“Mike’s distinguished career in intelligence and technical innovation makes him an exceptional addition to the team,” said Andrew Hire, managing director of the intelligence practice. “His expertise will be pivotal in advancing the mission of our Intelligence Practice and delivering tailored, high-impact solutions to our clients.”
McKenna has over 20 years of experience in national security, emerging technologies and strategic investments. As head of the U.S. Air Force’s strategic investment team, she managed a $1.1 trillion portfolio.
She was the first military fellow to the Defense Innovation Board, where she modernized the Defense Department’s approach to AI, software acquisition and cultural transformation.
Miller comes to BGS after serving as an operations research analyst in the Office of the Secretary of Defense, Cost Assessment and Program Evaluation. She managed DOD’s science and technology budget and advised on investments in areas like directed energy and microelectronics.
As special assistant to the CAPE director, she supported the development of the FY24 and FY25 DOD budget requests.
