The finalists for WashingtonExecâs 2024 Pinnacle Awards were announced Sept. 20, and weâll be highlighting some of them until the event takes place live, in-person Nov. 21.
Next is Tonie Powell, operations office manager and executive assistant to the president/CEO of Magellan Federal, and finalist in the Executive Assistant of the Year, Private & Public Companies, category. Here, she talks about recent achievements, primary focus areas going forward and more.
What key achievements did you have in 2024?
In 2024, one of my proudest achievements was supporting the smooth transition of our executive leadership team, helping to position Magellan Federal for continued success and innovation. This shift strengthened our leadership and reinforced our commitment to delivering exceptional service to our clients and partners.
What are your primary focus areas going forward, and why are those so important to the mission?
Going forward, my primary focus is further enhancing operational efficiency, especially as our company grows. Itâs essential to ensure our executives can operate at peak performance without worrying about administrative details. Iâm also focusing on fostering a collaborative environment that encourages open communication. This is important to the mission because, as a government contractor, our operations must run smoothly to deliver timely, effective solutions to our clients.
What is something about you that most people do not know?
Most people donât know that Iâm an avid baker! My signature dish is sweet potato pie, and itâs a hit with family and friends. Iâve even earned the unofficial âSweet Potato Pie Queenâ title among my loved ones. When Iâm not baking, I probably cheer for the Dallas Cowboys or organize community service events with my sorority.
