V2X, Inc. has won a $265 million contract to provide technical support for NASA astronauts receiving crucial training for space missions at the Johnson Space Center’s Sonny Carter Training Facility. The contract is effective until 2033, with options periods.
Under the contract, V2X will help ensure the reliability of the integrated hardware and software systems used at the Neutral Buoyance Laboratory, which serves as a training ground for NASA’s Artemis 2 mission.
The mission is set to launch in September 2025 and will mark a historical milestone as it sends the first woman and person of color to the moon.
“We are honored to continue our partnership with NASA and support their mission to explore the frontiers of space,” said Jeremy Wensinger, president and CEO of V2X. “The Neutral Buoyancy Laboratory is an unparalleled facility, and we are committed to ensuring its readiness for the next generation of space exploration, including the groundbreaking Artemis 2 mission.”
The NBL is an astronaut training ground where recovery missions and microgravity simulations prepare astronauts for space exploration. Recent upgrades by NASA and V2X enhanced the NBL with a realistic lunar surface model, improving training capabilities.
The NBL has been instrumental in NASA’s astronaut training program for over three decades, providing preparation for spacewalks and mission scenarios.
