Horace Blackman
Senior Vice President of Defense, Intelligence and Space, CGI Federal
CGI recently secured significant wins in the defense sector, particularly focused on initiatives to enhance and modernize the U.S. Marine Corps’ logistics systems. With a new task order at the U.S. Marine Corps Platform Integration Center, CGI will expand the asset management capabilities to bring new inspection and quality management solutions. With these new modules, USMC personnel can access maintenance status and operational health of mission critical assets in addition to real-time location.
In the past year, CGI also successfully demonstrated the integration of Microsoft Azure Orbital Cloud Access and Nokia Private 5G communications within MCPIC systems. This demonstration showcased CGI’s expertise in leveraging cutting-edge technology to improve mission effectiveness and provide real-time visibility into logistics operations.
By harnessing the power of cloud computing and private 5G networks, CGI enabled the Marine Corps to enhance communication, data transmission and decision-making processes within MCPIC, ultimately optimizing logistics operations and enhancing overall mission success.
Why Watch
This year, Blackman’s team is focused on using AI to improve customer effectiveness and mission success. They are exploring AI’s potential and expanding their expertise in financial management, particularly advancing the Momentum solution in the intelligence sector for ERP and financial support. The team is also working with global defense partners through CGI to enhance the defense industrial base.
“This accolade underscores the dedication of the entire CGI team to driving innovation and excellence in supporting the critical missions of our defense agencies,” Blackman said. “I look forward to continuing to lead transformative initiatives that enhance our nation’s defense capabilities and ensure mission success.”
Fun fact: Blackman threw out the first pitch for the Rocket City Trash Pandas (minor league baseball team in Huntsville, Alabama) while visiting CGI’s office there. He got it pretty close to the strike zone.
