Highlight Gets Grant to Support AFRL, AFWERX

    Kevin Long, Highlight

Highlight was selected by AFWERX for a Small Business Innovation Research Direct-to-Phase II contract worth over $1 million to develop a pilot program for accessing applications and data on mobile devices at the Controlled Unclassified Information level.

This will assist the Department of the Air Force in addressing some of its most significant challenges.

The Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX are simplifying the SBIR and Small Business Technology Transfer process. They aim to expedite the experience for small businesses through quicker proposal-to-award timelines, the company stated. This approach alters the pool of potential applicants by broadening opportunities for small businesses and reducing bureaucratic overhead.

“We are very excited to continue our work with the US Air Force and our partner Hypori, providing solutions that remove digital obstacles from our warfighters,” said Kevin Long, vice president of Highlight’s National Security Solutions group. “We look forward to extending the lessons learned from the successful BYOD pilot within the US Army Airmen with easier access to their networks, data, and applications.”

The Air force began offering the Open Topic SBIR/STTR program in 2018, expanding the range of innovations it funded. As of Feb. 10, Highlight began creating and providing innovative capabilities to strengthen national defense.
