WashingtonExec Three Pieces of Advice Series:

“If you could give your kids only three pieces of advice, what would they be?”

Today’s advice is from Hulya Aksu, Founding Publisher of Modern DC Business, I AM Modern Magazine, and CriticMania.com.

Find your passion and live with them- Life is full of repetitive and mundane tasks. Find your passion and make choices that tap into the things you love to do. Building a life on the things you love will give you drive and 100% satisfaction. And who doesn’t want to wake up with a smile on their face every morning!

Do good, without expectations- Give yourself to people and to the principles in your life. Give and give– but never expect anything in return. Know that when you have no expectations, everything given to you will have more meaning and will make you happier. When you have expectations you give the burden of your happiness to others, no one should be responsible for your happiness. Only you are in control of your happiness. How wonderful it is when you get a surprise when you were not expecting! Apply this to your whole life.

You can’t control people-You can only control your reactions to people. Don’t judge mean people, or ill intended people, but rather judge your own reaction to them. Don’t allow rotten people to make you respond rottenly. You be who you are and don’t let others control you. When you control your reactions, your destiny is yours.
