Chris George has been named president and general manager of Intel Federal LLC, a part of Intel’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer.

George will report to Greg Lavender, Intel’s executive vice president, chief technology officer and general manager of the Software and Advanced Technology Group.

In his new role, George will lead Intel Federal into its next growth phase, in collaboration with Intel’s product, research and manufacturing organizations, the company said.

“Congratulations to Christopher George, who will be taking the role of President and General Manager of Intel Federal!,” said Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger. “His deep technical leadership, alongside his passion for working closely with customers, makes him ideal to drive innovation and collaborate with the U.S. government in deeper more meaningful ways. Having worked closely with Chris since my return to Intel Corporation, I’m thrilled to see how he’ll push the boundaries of what’s possible through exceptional engineering in partnership with Intel’s product, research, and manufacturing organizations ⏤ so the U.S. can deliver the performance needed, where we need it.”

Intel Federal, in addition to offering high-performance computing, artificial intelligence and 5G network solutions to U.S. government customers, collaborates with defense partners to develop secure foundry offerings and innovative packaging solutions. These efforts are part of the Defense Department’s State-of-the-Art Heterogeneous Integrated Packaging and Rapid Assured Microelectronics Prototypes – Commercial programs.

George brings to the team a deep technical background and strong business experience.

“Chris comes with a breadth of experience across Intel and a deep understanding of Intel’s operating model,” Lavender said. “Chris’s Intel career began in Technology Development where he conducted research as a computational materials scientist. From there, he joined the market intelligence team in Intel’s Data Platforms Group where he developed analytical tools and models to forecast trends across Intel’s data-centric portfolio.

“Next, Chris worked in the CEO’s office, first as a research analyst and then as Chief of Staff. Chris’s most recent role was as CTO of the Corporate Strategy & Ventures group where he worked closely with Intel Capital to analyze strategic investments and contributed technical expertise to corporate strategic discussions,” Lavender added.

George will assume his new responsibilities on Feb. 1. Until then, Jim Brinker, vice president and general manager of Intel Federal LLC, will continue as president. Brinker will transition to an advisory role until his planned retirement on March 1.
