MITRE has appointed Stephanie Turner to the new role of vice president of diversity and chief sustainability officer.
This is an expansion of Turner’s current responsibilities for inclusion, diversity and social innovation that will allow the company to integrate and scale its sustainability and IDS efforts.
“Since Stephanie joined MITRE in March 2020, she has led her teams as key drivers of change, implementing organizational processes and practices to enhance our commitment to inclusion, diversity, and equity (IDE) and created a true culture of belonging,” said Kathleen Federico, senior vice president, chief people, brand and communications officer.
“Adding sustainability to her portfolio will allow us to advance our Environmental, Social, and Governance capabilities in new and innovative ways and further enables our mission of solving problems for a safer world,” she added.
The position will also embed accountability across policies, practices, governance and leadership performance.
“Stephanie has partnered across MITRE to evolve and integrate our IDE efforts into the fabric of our work and throughout the organization,” said Julie Bowen, senior vice president of operations and outreach and chief legal officer.
“She also is strengthening and expanding relationships with industry and academia to help shape STEM education in underserved communities. She will bring commitment to collaboration and delivering whole-of-nation solutions to our corporate sustainability program,” Bowen said.
Turner also serves on the advisory board for Simmons University Institute for Inclusive Leadership and the Northern Virginia Chamber of Commerce board of directors.
