    General Dynamics Awarded $20 Million Contract to Support Indian Health Service

    The Department of Health and Human Services has awarded General Dynamics Information Technology, a business unit of General Dynamics, a contract to engineer and support software for the Indian Health Service. The company’s Information Technology unit will handle the order for the service’s electronic health information system.

    The IHS, which provides healthcare to American Indian and Alaska Native patients and use General Dynamics’ Health Information Exchange Open Source software to share data about treatments and develop best practices. The organizations have worked together on the electronic health information system since 2003.

    “We are committed to helping IHS advance personal and public health services for American Indian and Alaska Native people,” said Marcus Collier, senior vice president of the Health and Civilian Solutions Division for General Dynamics Information Technology. “We are pleased to continue working with IHS to deliver health IT solutions that enable efficient healthcare delivery and improved health outcomes through better business processes.”

    The contract has a potential value of $20 million, if all options are executed.
