Chris Bishop
Chief Growth Officer, HII Mission Technologies
As chief growth officer, Chris Bishop’s biggest recent achievement was the successful integration of multiple growth teams from legacy businesses (across HII and Alion Science and Technology) into a high-performing, highly motivated growth organization in less than 60 days.
“We didn’t miss a beat, submitting a record number of proposals and achieving a book-to-bill ratio greater than 2.2 in our most recent quarter,” he said.
The organization built a robust pipeline of more than $60 billion in total value, with $20 billion qualified, positioning HII well for the future.
“HII’s Mission Technologies division is in a year of unprecedented growth,” said Andy Green, president of HII Mission Technologies. “Much of our success is attributed to Chris and his team and the incredible progress they’ve made, fostering a growth mindset and starting to realize our vision of expanding our capabilities into higher-end, differentiated solutions. Their work really sets the stage for HII’s future success and, more importantly, ensures our customers are mission ready in all domains.”
Why Watch
In 2022, Bishop and his team are heavily focused on defining and executing a strategy-driven pipeline to achieve industry-leading organic growth targets by pursuing large-scale technology-focused contracts; delivering on cross-business growth synergies; maintaining a high-performing organizational culture; and optimizing an agile, efficient business development infrastructure.
Their aspirational objective is to become the nation’s leading partner for advanced mission technology solutions in the national security space. They are focused on creating, sustaining and enhancing the U.S. military’s technological advantage in all domains and across broad areas of science and technology, engineering and innovation.
“Our customers’ missions matter, and speed is of the utmost importance,” Bishop said. “Our customers are facing one of the most highly complex and challenging times in history. Many of our customers don’t have years to field solutions; they need disruptive technologies and operational capabilities now. This role allows me to leverage the considerable capabilities across HII to help solve some of our customers’ largest, most challenging ‘hard problems.'”
