Solutions provider CGI has been awarded a new task order to expand the Marine Corps Platform Integration Center program across eight U.S. Marine Corps bases.
Already operating at three USMC outposts, MCPIC supports inventory tracking through digital tagging of mission-critical equipment, allowing system users to access real-time data by leveraging automated identification technology and Internet of Things sensors.
Building on CGI’s 30-year commitment to USMC, this new task order includes a 4-year period of performance with initial funding of $8.5 million and a total value of $34.4 million inclusive of all options.
CGI has had a key role in helping USMC achieve inventory tracking and compliance scores, said USMC Deputy Commander D.W. Elzie.
“MCPIC continues to have a considerable impact on our operational baseline that helps us account for our assets,” Elzie said. “We are thrilled to expand this partnership and level of professionalism to all Marine Corps bases.”
With this contract, CGI continues the automation of inventory through passive radio frequency identification that allows USMC to have total asset visibility. The technology enables USMC to track items to destinations around the world and has successfully recovered assets as a result of high accuracy tracking.
“We are honored that MCPIC has become the program of record at USMC,” said CGI Vice-President Chris Hetman.
“We proudly support USMC’s most complex, vital tasks—effectively managing their supply chain in delivering mission-critical equipment and supplies to the right place, at the right time. CGI constantly innovates and implements the latest technology—like MCPIC, a key engine for USMC—to automate USMC’s entire global inventory receiving process,” Hetman added.
