CGI announced Lori Ortega and Matt Kittrell will head the operations of its recently opened technology center in Knoxville, Tennessee.

The two will lead federal and commercial, overseeing the recruitment of 300 engineers, developers, programmers and data and business analysts. They will continue CGI’s partnership with the University of Tennessee’s Heath Integrated Business and Engineering Program, and establish the local chapter of STEM@CGI, an initiative to get underprivileged students engaged in math and science.

“Their experience and leadership, along with their Knoxville ties, puts us in a strong position to reach our goals for the Knoxville Center and maximize the impact of our partnerships across the community,” said Will LaBar, vice president of U.S. Centers at CGI.

Ortega brings over 30 years of experience at CGI, including the last 12 years at CGI Federal.

“I’m looking forward to maximizing the talent in the area to help build the center from the ground up,” said Ortega, now director and Knoxville Center operations lead for CGI Federal. “I value the successes CGI has had in other communities, and I’m committed to replicating that success in Knoxville.”

Kittrell joins CGI with over 20 years of business services and management consulting experience.

“East Tennessee is home,” said Kittrell, director and Knoxville Center operations lead for CGI’s U.S. commercial and state government operations. “I look forward to working side-by-side with local talent and organizations to build a center that is expected to grow to 300-plus skilled IT professionals committed to the community where they live and work.”

CGI also named Christine Horwege to the Knoxville technology center as part of the security and governance group in the emerging technologies practice.
