Rebecca M. Cowen-Hirsch, Inmarsat Government Inc.

Rebecca M. Cowen-Hirsch was determined to ensure that even during the pandemic, Inmarsat’s U.S. government customers had unwavering access and seamless connectivity to the critical voice, video and data services made possible by Inmarsat’s satellite communications.

Whether providing satellite communications to first responders fighting wildfires in California or U.S. service members supporting global missions, Cowen-Hirsch and her team remain firmly focused on Inmarsat’s core competency of highly capable, reliable and secure world-class communications no matter what circumstances their customers face — or where the mission takes them.

“Knowing that you can communicate is as essential as the air you breathe,” Cowen-Hirsch said. “What our satellites bring to our customers should be a given — just like the smartphones they hold in their hands.”

    Why Watch

Congress approved $15.2 billion for the Space Force for fiscal year 2021, positioning satellite communications to play an even more critical role for the U.S. government. Cowen-Hirsch will lead her team in ensuring Inmarsat’s latest innovations and assured satellite communications capabilities are delivered on time and in relevant fashion to its government customers.

“We will always be there for the service members who are looking to stay connected to their families while far from home, and then rely upon our satellites to perform their mission duties,” she said. “We will continue to maintain and grow our relationship with the U.S. government so that our partnership is constantly strengthening. We work on this as if lives are dependent upon it — because they are.”
