One of Rick Wagner‘s most notable accomplishments in 2020 is joining Microsoft and leading the newly formed Microsoft Federal team focused on helping government agencies meet their increasingly complex missions.
His team’s 2020 focus has been to use cloud and artificial intelligence to rebound and respond to today’s challenges. Microsoft has invested in Azure Government to be the all-encompassing mission cloud — which means it can meet civilian, defense and intelligence organizations’ unique criteria to enable seamless operations.
Microsoft 365 and Teams allow for continuity in operations and collaboration, while its AI-powered health bots quickly deliver critical information to patients and providers.
“All these things have not only kept federal missions on track during an unprecedented time but will enable new opportunities in the coming years,” Wagner said.
Why Watch
Azure Government Top Secret and Azure Space represent the next frontier in supporting missions at all classification levels and providing global computing and communications reach, according to Wagner.
And personally, in 2021, as a board member of Fairfax Futures, Wagner is looking forward to continuing his passion for early childhood education. Because he has also recently been appointed to the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority board, Wagner looks forward to being part of this organization, as it has played a leading role in maintaining Fairfax County’s economic strength, even in this difficult time.
“With its business investments and talent initiatives (another passion of mine is developing talent!), the future of Fairfax County and Northern Virginia looks bright,” Wagner said.
