    Kamaljeet Sanghera Named Executive Director of GMU’s Institute for Digital InnovAtion

    George Mason University has named Dr. Kamaljeet Sanghera, associate professor of information sciences and technology, as interim executive director of the Institute for Digital InnovAtion.

    Sanghera will lead the organization to support the research community in the pursuit of cutting-edge work to shape the future of our digital society and promote equality, wellbeing, security and prosperity.

    In addition to her faculty role, Sanghera serves as the associate chair of Information Sciences and Technology and the executive director of STEM outreach for the Volgenau School of Engineering.

    Sanghera is an active member in the STEM community. She helped found the Virginia governor’s STEM commission and serves on the executive board of the Northern Virginia Computer Science Teachers’ Association. She is also on the advisory board of STEM for Her.

    Additionally, Sanghera is currently working on the Sisters Rise Up grant by Reboot Representation and is an active member of the Students and Technology in Academia, Research and Service program and the National Center for Women and Information Technology.

    Sanghera’s notable achievements include working with Amazon Web Services and Northern Virginia Community College to create a cloud computing degree for which she received a Partnership of the Year award from Education Dive. Additionally, she was a finalist in the STEM Leadership category of the 2020 Women in Technology award.
