Alion Science and Technology has hired veteran aerospace and defense industry executive Todd Stirtzinger as senior vice president of its Advanced Technology Group.
Stirtzinger will lead Alion in growing engineering solutions for defense and intelligence customers, including advance weapons, rapid reverse engineering and prototyping, hardware and resilient avionics and logistics.

Stirtzinger has more than 30 years’ experience in aerospace and defense. Most recently, he was a sector and division president at L3Harris, where he had a range of duties, including the growth of a portfolio that included head-worn visual augmentation systems, weapon-mounted lasers and sighting devices and integrated networked systems.
“Alion’s Advanced Technology Group is known for solving the toughest challenges for our defense and intelligence community customers,” Stirtzinger said. “I am looking forward to joining the ATG team and working on innovative solutions to advance global security.”
His other experience includes serving as CEO of a U.S. subsidiary for a Japanese-based electronics manufacturing company focused on custom embedded computing for the medical, industrial and military/aerospace markets. He also has 25 years at Leonardo DRS leading various ISR and electro-optical/infrared business areas as a sector president, sector senior vice president of programs and division vice president/general manager.
Stirtzinger holds bachelor’s degrees in accounting and business administration from Rollins College along with an MBA degree from Webster University. He completed executive leadership programs at Wharton Aresty Institute of Executive Education, Columbia Business School and the Center for Creative Leadership. Stirtzinger is an active member of the Association of the United States Army and a past member of the Executive Steering Committee for a Habitat for Humanity affiliate.
He will be based at Alion’s ATG headquarters in Dayton, Ohio.
