Akima subsidiary Sunik has been awarded a contract to provide base operating support for Marine Corps Base Quantico in Virginia.
Awarded by the Department of the Navy, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Washington, the deal has a potential 8-year period of performance. It has a total value of $75 million, if all options are exercised.
“The decisions made at the Marine Corps Base in Quantico impact Marines across the globe, both afloat and ashore, and in reserve duty throughout the United States,” said Scott Rauer, president of Akima’s Facilities Solutions Group. “Quantico is aptly called the ‘Crossroads of the Marine Corps,’ and Akima is proud to support a command with such a long and distinguished history. This award exemplifies the confidence our customers have in the Akima portfolio of companies to support our nation’s most important military facilities.”
In addition to supporting base operations at Quantico, the contract includes support for the Marine Corps University, the Naval Health Clinic, the Marine Corps Network Operations and Security Command and the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Sunik will provide management and labor with expertise to support the base with facilities maintenance, service call work, repair, and security services.
