A homeland security expert who held leadership roles with the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Secret Service has joined Booz Allen Hamilton.
Cedric Sims takes on the role as a senior vice president in the firm’s Civilian Services Group and will work to create strategies to promote integration across the firm’s homeland security business in support of more complex missions, the company said.
Sims’ efforts will expand on Booz Allen’s support implementing the DHS Continuous Diagnostics Monitoring program.
“As DHS celebrates its fifteen-year anniversary, our nation faces an expanding set of threats that demand new strategies and technologies, like automation and artificial intelligence, to revolutionize how we protect our homeland,” said Kristine Martin Anderson, executive vice president and head of the Civilian Services Group. “Cedric’s commitment to living the mission and deep experience in homeland security will bolster the integration that we help clients realize at DHS and across government—work that is critical in ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of our citizens.”
Sims’ most recent role was as president and CEO of Evermay Consulting Group. Prior to that, he held leadership and operational roles at federal and state agencies. In his last federal appointment, Sims established the DHS Office of Program Accountability and Risk Management.
Before joining DHS, Sims held several leadership roles at the U.S. Secret Service, where he implemented the first 5-year strategic plan in the agency’s history.
Before joining federal service, Sims served in various management and research roles for the Texas A&M University System to promote federal, state and local interoperability through the Advanced Law Enforcement and Response Technology, or ALERT, program.
Sims has dual bachelor’s degrees in computer science and journalism from Texas A&M University, as well as a doctorate in engineering from the same institution.
