ECS has been named the prime awardee of a $51 million to modernize the automated system used to track and manage the movement of Defense Department personnel and cargo.
The firm-fixed price, cost-plus contract was awarded by the U.S. Transportation Command’s Air Mobility Command.
Under the contract, ECS will be responsible for full life cycle support for the Global Air Transportation Execution System, or GATES. The work includes new development, operations and maintenance and modernization. ECS will also help USTRANSCOM transition to the cloud.
“GATES is an essential element of an extraordinarily complex logistical undertaking,” said George Wilson, president of ECS. “We are honored to bring our expertise to USTRANSCOM and the US Air Force, as they serve the global transportation needs of the DoD.”
The company will provide an agile software development team of about 75 personnel to the USTRANSCOM headquarters at Scott Air Force Base in Illinois.
