    Bobbie Peterson, A-TEK

A-TEK Inc. has hired Bobbie Peterson as vice president for business development, tasking the 20-year industry veteran with leading the company’s growth efforts.

Peterson has led teams that collectively won awards of more than $1 billion over the past two decades, from federal agencies including the departments of Health and Human Services and Veterans Affairs, A-TEK said. She has experience in both large and small organizations, and has previous successes in driving new business in the areas of federal health IT and biomedical research, the company said.

“Ms. Peterson joins our team during a very exciting and pivotal time of strategic corporate growth and expansion,” said Kathryn Freeland, A-TEK’s CEO. “Her industry credentials, coupled with her detailed understanding of emerging IT trends across an ever-evolving federal landscape will allow us to better align with the strategic goals and objectives of our customers.”

Peterson will work with A-TEK’s leadership team to leverage the company’s past performance and domain expertise in both science and technology, the company said. She will be based in A-TEK’s McLean, Virginia, headquarters.

Peterson is an active participant in Health Information Management and Systems Society, the American Council for Technology and Industry Advisory Council, and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.   She has a bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s in information systems technology management from George Washington University, and is certified as a project management professional and a certified professional in health care and information management systems.

A-TEK was recently appraised at CMMI Maturity Level 3 for both development and services.
