BAE Systems Inc. has named former General Dynamics Information Technology veteran Al Whitmore president of its intelligence and security business based in McLean, Virginia.
Whitmore will join the executive leadership team of BAE Systems Inc., led by President and CEO Jerry DeMuro.
“Al brings more than three decades of experience delivering information technology and communications services to government and commercial customers,” DeMuro said. “His deep understanding of this highly competitive market will enable him to build on the tremendous success that our I&S team has provided in support of our customers’ critical military and national security missions.”
Whitmore recently served as senior vice president of GDIT’s global solutions division, where he led efforts to invest in core capabilities, expand the business into new markets, and establish a mentoring program for the division’s approximately 6,000 employees in 18 countries.
Whitmore joined GDIT when it acquired GTE Government Systems, where he held a number of business development and strategic leadership positions over a 15-year GTE career.
Whitmore is an executive committee member of the international board of directors at the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.
