Objective Area Solutions LLC has named retired Gen. Glen VanHerck to its board of advisors.

VanHerck spent nearly 37 years in the Air Force, finishing as commander of North American Aerospace Defense Command and U.S. Northern Command. He also served as director of the Joint Staff and contributed to the 2018 National Defense Strategy. A command pilot with over 4,000 hours in the F-15C, F-35A, B-2A and B-1B, he holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate.

OAS focuses on modernizing aviation infrastructure across civil, homeland defense and national security missions.

“General VanHerck brings a valuable combination of strategic leadership, operational expertise, and deep experience aligning multi-mission stakeholders to our board,” said J.J. Stakem, CEO of Objective Area Solutions. “As aviation infrastructure continues to become increasingly interconnected and complex, General VanHerck’s unique insight and perspective will help us to accelerate outcomes at the intersection of safety, security, and readiness.”

In the advisory role, VanHerck will support OAS leadership on strategic growth, mission alignment and partnerships.

“I’m honored to join Objective Area Solutions at a time when aviation infrastructure is central to both economic vitality and national security,” VanHerck said. “The demands on aviation systems capacity, resilience, cybersecurity, interoperability, and speed of decision-making are growing simultaneously. I’m excited to support the team’s mission focus and help strengthen the connective tissue between civil aviation, defense missions, and security imperatives.”

VanHerck is principal at Glen VanHerck Advisors LLC, a senior fellow at the National Defense University and Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory and a member of the MITRE Air and Space Council.
