President of Intelligence & Cybersecurity Business, Amentum

Jennifer Walsmith’s most significant recent achievement is completing her first year at Amentum.

“It has been incredibly exciting to collaborate with amazing colleagues to build a new Intelligence & Cyber Group and solve hard challenges for our customers,” she said.

In terms of aligning Amentum’s work with the current administration’s priorities to reduce costs, streamline operations and improve government efficiency, Walsmith said her team applies advanced technologies to Amentum’s mission support services for the federal government, with a primary focus on defense, intelligence and other critical national security missions.

“Our work involves modernizing defense systems to enhance efficiency, improve operational readiness, and protect national security,” she said.

    Why Watch

Looking ahead, Walsmith said she’s “all-in” on AI. While she has advocated for and led AI-enabled programs for years, she had not fully integrated it into her own daily work until recently. Now, she uses AI across tasks ranging from early-stage financial analysis and drafting briefing talking points to checking winter weather forecasts for her commute.

“It has allowed me to work with more speed and, therefore, has given me more time to think,” she said. “My team sees me as an active user, and they are following suit in applying AI to the mission to help our customers.”

Fun fact: Walsmith’s youngest daughter recently graduated nursing school and is working at the University of Maryland Medical Center. AI is rapidly reaching the nursing community, and she’s currently taking an AI in medicine certificate program.
