Matthew Graviss
Public Sector Chief Technology Officer, Atlassian
Atlassian recently delivered a major milestone for the federal community with the release of Atlassian Government Cloud – a secure, FedRAMP Moderate Certified cloud environment designed specifically for agency collaboration, service management, and mission operations.
Under Graviss’ leadership, Atlassian’s public sector team shaped the strategy, requirements, and customer partnerships that guided AGC from concept to launch, enabling agencies to move off of aging data center deployments and into a modern, scalable platform aligned with federal security and operational expectations. AGC creates a clear modernization runway for government teams ready to transform how they work.
Why Watch
In 2026, Atlassian is committed to helping public sector agencies work more effectively. It’s telling that 50% of U.S. government workers believe that there are better tools to carry out their missions – that’s exactly the gap Graviss’ team is working to close.
Atlassian is focused on making it easier for these agencies and partners to collaborate, share insights across teams, and keep their mission-critical data secure. Atlassian Government Cloud (AGC) gives public sector teams the tools they need, without compromising on security or compliance.
Looking ahead, Graviss and his team will continue to build on this foundation by adding new capabilities and exploring new deployment options, like FedRAMP High and Impact-Level 5, to support even more sensitive workloads, and enable every agency to better serve their mission.
Government agencies are no strangers to pressure. Every day, they face rising citizen expectations, tightening budgets, and the ongoing challenge of maintaining legacy systems that slow innovation and fragment collaboration.
Agencies that leverage resilient, cloud-based collaboration systems are not only more productive but also create a stronger foundation for future mission success. That’s what Graviss is focused on at Atlassian: making it easier for agencies to keep their information flowing, secure, and scalable, regardless of what challenges come their way.
“In government, inefficiency isn’t just frustrating, it directly impacts the mission. At the State Department, I saw firsthand how outdated workflows slow down diplomats and kept them from focusing on what matters,” Graviss said. “Atlassian Government Cloud is designed to streamline the way teams work, helping agencies move faster, reduce wasted effort, and deliver better mission outcomes.”
Fun fact: A favorite Toby Keith line of Graviss’ goes, “I ain’t as good as I once was, but I’m as good once, as I ever was.” Summer vacations on a lake in Tennessee give him a chance to prove it. His three sons are now great water skiers, but he still takes a run each year to remind them he’s not done yet.
